About Course

Everything around us is made of atoms. This KS3 chemistry course explains Dalton’s atomic model, the differences between atoms, elements, compounds and mixtures, how to read chemical symbols and formulae, what ‘pure’ means to a chemist, and how to separate mixtures by filtration, evaporation, distillation and chromatography.

Tutwoo Kids is independent and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Department for Education, Ofqual or any exam board. Certificates are for encouragement and are not qualifications.

What Will You Learn?

  • Describe a simple (Dalton) atomic model
  • Distinguish atoms, elements, compounds and mixtures
  • Read symbols and formulae and count the atoms in a formula
  • Choose the right separation technique and identify pure substances by melting point
