Good to know
- Key Stage 1 covers Years 1 and 2, when most children are aged 5 to 7.
- In Year 1, children in England take the phonics screening check, usually in June. Children who do not meet the standard retake it in Year 2.
- Reading together every day and practising number facts little and often both make a big difference at this age.
